Some registered chiropractors in the U.K. refer to themselves as Doctors of Chiropractic.

We are advised by the General Chiropractic Council to offer the following advice regarding use of the title “doctor” , which is used throughout this website.

The GCC code of practice states that "Registered chiropractors who use the title doctor must make it clear that they are registered chiropractors and not medical practitioners".

Chiropractors are trained as primary care practitioners and are therefore able to recognise the signs and symptoms of disease where present.  When relevant this may require action in addition to, or instead of, chiropractic treatment, such as referral to another health professional.
